The Community Foundation is again helping to administer the Community Gems Awards. The award, first presented in 2009 by Clarkes Jewelers and the Foundation, honors remarkable women in the Shreveport-Bossier community who have made exceptional contributions and who are not typically in the spotlight. The annual presentation recognizes 12 women each year. Each honoree gets the chance to wear a diamond necklace – called "Gemma” -- for a month.
Nominations of several deserving women have been submitted and the
selection process is under way. Winners will be announced soon.
